On February 21, the Holy Father appointed Fr. Landry Philippe Rasamison, OFMCap., as Bishop of the Diocese of Port Victoria or Seychelles (Seychelles). Until now, he has been guardian of our community in Seychelles and pastor of St. Michel in Anse aux Pins, succeeding His Excellency Jean-Baptiste Alain Harel in pastoral service.
Brother Landry Philippe Rasamison was born on May 3, 1972, in Ambanja (Madagascar). After studying philosophy at the Saint Paul Apôtre Major Seminary in Antsirabé and theology at the Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Ambatobe, he obtained a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Antonianum University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on August 15, 2000.
He has held the following positions: formator and bursar at the Capuchin Philosophy Studentate in Antisrabé (2000-2002); bursar of the Immaculate Conception fraternity in Antsirabé (2005-2008); parish priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in La Misère, Seychelles (2008-2022); responsible for vocational ministry in the Seychelles (2009-2019); since 2023, guardian (superior of the Domus Presentiae) and parish priest.
