2026 Online Course for Ongoing Formation

“Walking Faithfully in the Franciscan Way”

Rome, ITALY – For the third consecutive year, our General Secretariat for Formation is promoting a program of ongoing formation for all friars. The formation course, officially presented by the General Minister, Br. Roberto Genuin, in a letter dated February 3, 2026, is part of the celebrations for the eighth centenary of the Testament and death of St. Francis of Assisi.

The 2026 course, entitled “Walking Faithfully in the Franciscan Way: from 1226 to 2026 and Beyond,” aims to explore two fundamental themes of Capuchin life:

  • The lay dimension of our vocation. Building on the fruits of the recent International Meeting for Lay Brothers (November 2025), the course aims to renew our understanding of the one Capuchin vocation, lived in its two expressions, lay and clerical (Const. 90 / RF 298).
  • The legacy of the Testament. On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the passing of Our Seraphic Father, the friars are invited to reflect on the Testament as a spiritual compass for living our vocation in a frail and wounded world, where we are called to proclaim and bear witness to the Gospel.

The formation course will take place every two months throughout the year, linking the roots of Franciscan spirituality with the present day. The recent setting for all our initiatives, including this present one, is the 500th anniversary of the Capuchin Reform, which we will celebrate in 2028.

We encourage active and continuous participation, so that this ongoing formation, in addition to being a time for study, is also a real opportunity for personal and fraternal growth.
