3rd Pan-American Meeting of Capuchins

A time of preparation for the meeting in May 2027

In a spirit of communion and gratitude, the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin in the Americas announced its preparations for the Third Pan-American Meeting of Capuchins in 2027, the next step in a process that will bring continuity to the pastoral renewal experienced in previous meetings in São Paulo (2022) and Bogotá (2024).

According to the organizers, this new continental event will take place in two phases. The first will be online, scheduled for May 2026, and will aim to encourage shared reflection among the circumscriptions, and a discussion on shared initiatives. The second will be an in-person gathering, like a celebration, scheduled for May 2027 as a culmination of the journey so far and an opportunity for fraternal encounter between the major superiors of the Americas.

The meeting is part of a process that began with the First Pan-American Meeting (São Paulo, 2022), an occasion that rekindled the sense of belonging and the Capuchin charism under the banner of universal fraternity. Subsequently, the Second Meeting (Bogotá, 2024) forged a pastoral vision centered on synodality, promoting collaborative projects between circumscriptions and bringing to bear new possibilities for experiencing fraternity.

Looking ahead to 2027, the American Capuchins have set themselves the goal for their next meeting of “putting their reflections into practice” and opening themselves to new insights, strengthening continental ties to offer a living witness of charity and peace in the Church and in the world.

In this spirit of fraternity and mission, all circumscriptions, fraternities, and friars are invited to actively participate in this journey towards 2027, taking part willingly in the online phase beginning in May 2026 by contributing reflections, experiences, and proposals that will help strengthen our continental communion.
