Buenos Aires, Argentina. From February 16 to 20, 2026, the superiors of the circumscriptions of the Conference of Capuchins of Spanish-speaking America gathered for their fifth assembly in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The superiors of 15 of the 16 circumscriptions that make up the CCH were present. Br. Harold Arlés Pérez Hernández, General Councilor for Latin America, and Br. Eusebio Hernández, Secretary of Formation for the Conference, also participated.
In addition to discussing the items on the agenda, there was time for prayer, the celebration of the Eucharist, fraternity, and sharing the journey of each circumscription. The life of the conference was then evaluated, as were the elements of collaboration common to the circumscriptions (such as novitiates, the fraternities of St. Lawrence of Brindisi, etc.), and projects were presented that help to energize and advance the journey of the brothers in the conference.
Every two years, the president and vice-president are elected. Together with the executive secretary, they form the conference’s governing council. This year, Br. Juan Pablo Lobos Mendoza, from the Custody of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, was elected president, and Br. Mauricio Monge Rivera, from the Custody of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama, was elected vice-president.
The Fifth Assembly of the Conference of Capuchins of Latin America was an important opportunity to analyze the progress made, review joint projects, and explore possibilities for growth in areas such as communion, fraternity, and collaboration.
