The General Ministers of the OFMCap, OFMConv and OFM Orders have chosen the African continent as the venue for this year’s missionary formation course. The Secretariats for Evangelization and Missions of the three Orders organized the course in Uganda, from June 15 to August 10, at a shrine of Ugandan martyrs in Munyonyo, where the Conventual Friars run a large facility.
Each Order sent five friars to participate in the course. The facilitators are three friars (OFM, OFMConv and OFMCap) who had already participated in the same course three years ago.
Each week the participants delve into the most relevant topics for mission preparation in the African context with the help of a qualified presenter. On weekends, the friars visit missionary locations that help to reinforce and illustrate the content learned during the week.
The opening of the course was led by Br. Mariosvaldo Florentino, General Secretary for Evangelization and Mission of the Capuchins, while the conclusion will be facilitated by Br. Carlos A. Trovarelli, General Minister of the Friars Minor Conventual.
This course represents a beautiful opportunity for fraternal collaboration among the three Orders and a clear example of how, by joining forces, we can work together in many initiatives where our common charism calls us to serve.
