A New Website for the Order

Keeping Up Through the Digital Highways.

The Order’s website has donned a new digital outfit. The redesign of www.ofmcap.org marks a digital turnaround for the Order, that it may respond not only to the needs of the constant changes in information and communication technologies, but especially to improve the accessibility and usability of multimedia content received from the Capuchin and ecclesial world. As reflected in the Communications Office of the General Curia, “the renewal of the site stems from the need to keep up with the speed and creativity with which information travels through the digital highways.

The Order’s website had been upgraded to a multimedia and informative revamping in 2007 with the aim of keeping up with the digital changes of the day, as well as communicating the Order’s news, documents, and official releases more quickly.

The new website, which was officially unveiled on June 21, 2025, is the result of an intense and lengthy updating process that saw its latest look in 2016, which remained in use until a few days ago. This change, made about 10 years ago, was motivated by the need to ensure that friars had easy access to information as opposed to the slowness of regular mail. Today, technological tools offer us other challenges that need to be addressed through adaptation to new communication possibilities in a simultaneously seamless and interconnected world. Thus, the rich diversity of our Order will find better expression using a converging graphic language and digital space.

With these changes, the new site will provide greater accessibility to the documents, news, and articles that for so many years have been conveyed to the entire Order. Taking advantage of recent innovations in cyberspace characterized by constant interaction among users, the new site also aims to bring the Order’s most significant events to the circumscriptions and from the circumscriptions to the Order.

In fulfilling the Lord’s mandate to “read the signs of the times,” the Order today offers the world this new digital vestment so that the brothers’ witnessing of our charism can find expression and life in a way that is open to everyone in an ever-changing world.

Many thanks to all the visitors, who have been patient over the past weeks due to the slowdowns and then suspension of the previous site, and to all of you who have logged on. A special thanks, however, goes to those who made the new site: the Office of Communications and the Information Technology Office of the General Curia with the work of Br. Francisco Javier Castillo Ramírez and Br. Joaquim José Hangalo and other external collaborators. Finally, our appreciation goes to the General Minister and his Council who promoted the work.
