Capuchin Poor Clares of South America

The “Immaculate Heart of Mary” Federation of Capuchin Poor Clare Sisters of South America met in Ordinary Elective Assembly May 19-24, 2025, at the Monastery of Jesus Crucified in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia.

During the meeting, in addition to the review and planning of federation activities, the election of the new presidential council took place, which is now composed as follows:

– President: Suor Jovita dello Spirito Santo (Cochabamba Monastery, Bolivia)

– First Councilor: Suor Faustina della Divina Misericordia (Monastery of Lima, Peru)

– Second Councilor: Suor Maria Guadalupe (Palmas Monastery, Brazil)

– Third Councilor: Suor Maria dello Spirito Santo (Monastery of Santiago, Chile)

– Fourth Councilor: Suor Maria Francisca Reis (Monastery of Argentina)

Sisters Maria dello Spirito Santo and Maria Francisca Reis were elected despite not being physically present at the Assembly.

The election was presided over by Br. Clézio Menezes dos Santos, OFMCap, delegate of the General Minister for Capuchin Poor Clares and aggregated institutes to the Capuchin Order, since the federation currently does not have a federal assistant appointed by the Holy See.
