Hi Fra. Charles good morning. “Today is the Feast of Saint Flice da Cantalice a simple brother saint who witnessed through his life that simplicity matter.” His words were morning meditation for me as I was returning after celebrating mass in one of the Aged Homes here in Italy. He is a poor man seated in front of a church and spoke inspiring words. His name is Angelo. I got his permission to take a photo of him and requested me to give him a copy. The following are his thoughts:
“Poor can face poverty easily because they are used to inhuman conditions but for the rich to face poverty is difficult because they are used to their comfort zones. Saint Felix proved that even simple people without much education can become great.”
“What would be your message for today’s Feast I asked. His reply was: Those who humble themselves will be exalted and those who exalt themselves will be humbled.”
During his homily on the Canonization day of St. Maria Francesca di Gesù Rubato, St. Maria Domenica Mantovani, St. Devasahayam and 6 others Pope Francis talked about how we have to look into the eyes of the poor and have a personal touch. God speaks to us through the poor. Are we ready to listen and learn from them?
