Ongoing Formation Course – 10th to 18th December 2015)
FISI became the mountain abode of grace with the ongoing formation course conducted there. We had the inaugural session in the presence of Br. Denis Vegas the Director of FISI who warmly welcomed the participants and invited all to make the at most use of the formative atmosphere prevalent at FISI. In all there were 12 Capuchin brothers to attend the ongoing formation course at FISI, Bangalore, India (10th to 18th December 2015).
Br. Michael Fernandes our General Councilor for India spoke on discernment and particularly he gave many insights about the Franciscan Discernment which is centered around our fraternity. He pointed to the goal of discernment as knowing oneself, God & Freedom. Br. Patrick Crasta inspired the participants on 'Accompaniment in Franciscan Perspective.' The need for a Spiritual Companion was a very specific aspect he stressed upon pointing to it as a great help in forming oneself. The rest of the animators were Br. Joel De Jesus, Jaime Rey, Christy Vattakuzhy and Charles Alphonse who inspired them with the themes we have mentioned earlier.
Inspirations:
Experience in the periphery:
Our participants had the opportunity to experience the life of the sick and the poor in a Aids, destitute & Leprosy Centre jointly run by 6 religious congregations there in Bangalore. It was a source of inspiration to get to know the joint venture of religious belonging to different congregations serving the needy. Our Capuchins collaborate in that ministry. Thus a day at the periphery in between the reflections helped to strengthen the values reflected upon during the inputs.
The impression of the participants was that this course should be properly made known to all the friars so that they also get a chance like this to further update themselves and get renewed in a Franciscan Capuchin Way.
