Conference of Spanish-speaking Latin American Capuchins (CCH)

From Feb. 10-14, 2025, the Fourth Annual Assembly of the Spanish-speaking Capuchin Conference of Latin America was held in Ñaña, Peru, where Br. Harold Arlés Pérez Hernández, General Councilor, and Br. Seraphin Dederick, NAPCC president, were present along with the provincial ministers and custodes of the conference, thus strengthening the bonds of communion and collaboration between the two conferences.

At the assembly there was an atmosphere of fraternity and sincere dialogue. The sense of service of those in authority was explored and the realities present in each circumscription were shared. In addition, several initiatives of the conference were evaluated, including novitiates, the international fraternity in Leticia, Colombia, and the Schola Fratrum.

One of the most significant moments was the presentation of the reports of the CCH secretariats, highlighting the ongoing journey and challenges in each area. In this context, the statutes for the Secretariat of Communications were approved, consolidating its mission within the conference and ensuring its operation in the coming years.

In a spirit of collaboration, the new secretaries of the different areas and the executive secretary for the period 2025-2028 were appointed. In addition, the schedule of meetings of major superiors for the year 2025 was established, ensuring continuity in the work of the conference.

The assembly concluded with a presentation of the Franciscan Migrant Network, highlighting the importance of commitment to the most fragile among us. Finally, the CCH president and the General Councilor offered spiritual reflections, encouraging those present to continue to strengthen the Capuchin mission in the region.

We thank God for this opportunity to communicate and discern with one another, allowing for our Order to further grow in the Americas and effectively renewing the missionary impulse in our fraternal journey.
