On the Way to General Chapter 2024

On September 6 and 7, 2023, the first meeting of the preparatory commission for the 86th General Chapter of our Order was held at the General Curia in Rome. The members shared and reflected together as they deliberated on a course of action for the organization of the General Chapter, which will take place next year.
Among the items addressed were the agenda for the General Chapter and the “themes” that will be covered; Everything will be presented to the General Minister and Council for their consideration and approval.
All the members of the commission were present for the meeting: Br. José Angel Torres Rivera, Vicar General; Br. Maurizio Placentino, General Councilor; Br. Damian Philip Pereira, Secretary General; Br. Odilo Mroso of the Custody of South Africa; Br. Thomas Betz of the Province of Pennsylvania; Br. Juan Pablo Lobos Mendoza of the General Custody of Guatemala-Honduras-El Salvador; Br. Waldheim Rodrigues of the Province of Goa; Br. Harald Weber of the German Province; and Br. Luis Manuel Novais Leitão of the Province of Portugal.
The preparatory commission was formed in March of 2023 by the General Minister and his Council after the presidents of the Capuchin conferences were consulted and names were surfaced for who might be members of the commission.
