The meeting of the Capuchin Provincials in India (CCMSI} was held at Saccidananda, the Provincial Curia of Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka in Bangalore from July 16 to 17, 2023, under the leadership of Br. John Baptist Palliparambil, the General Councilor. During the assembly, several important decisions were made, among which was the election of officers (President: Br. Lawrence Soosai Nathan, Vice-President: Br. George Anthony and Secretary: Br. Brian Raymond Bandya).
The meeting devoted a significant amount of time and energy to preparing for the upcoming meeting of the General Minister and his Council with the provincials, custodes and councilors of the Indian Conference, scheduled for October 9-14, 2023, at Bharananganam, Kerala. The theme for this meeting will be “From Assisi to Sardhana and beyond…: Journey of Capuchins in Minority, Poverty and Fraternity.”
This special gathering will host around 100 brothers (provincials and councilors from 12 provinces, custodes and councilors from 2 custodies and provincial delegates from 5 delegations). Various commissions and extensive logistics were instrumental for the organization of this Indian Chapter of Mats which aims to elicit a reciprocity of listening and enrichment through our Capuchin charism. Two months of intense preparation and prayer are planned to better optimize this unique gathering of Capuchins in India and to strengthen CCMSI's commitment and contribution to the Capuchin charism, life and mission.
