The Capuchins of all America gather in Sao Paulo, Brazil

The Pan-American Capuchin Conference began on Sunday, May 1, in the Serra de São Pedro, in the interior of São Paulo (Brazil). About 80 friars from all over the Americas, as well as members of the General Government of the Order, are there to reflect on the proposals made during the virtual meetings held throughout the year.

The meeting facilitated by the friars who have already participated in the meetings held via the Internet. In addition to the presentations, the friars will meet in groups to discuss and share in plenary session. The topics follow the dynamics adopted in the virtual meetings.

On Wednesday, May 4, the friars will travel to Aparecida do Norte, where they will participate in the Holy Mass presided by Sean O'Malley, OFMCap, Cardinal Archbishop of Boston (USA) at 9:00 A.M. (Brazil).

After the visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida, the friars will return to the Sierra de San Pedro, where they will finish the reflections of the meeting.

The Panamerican Conference

After undergoing several changes, especially due to the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting was restructured and held in two phases: virtual and face-to-face. In the first phase, in addition to those convened, several brothers were able to participate and send their contributions.

The in-person meeting is the great celebration that the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin hoped to hold in the Americas as a desire to revive the charism in these lands.
