Written in Italian and Polish, this book marks the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Fr. Efrem Klawitter (1894-1970), Capuchin painter, sculptor, illustrator and glassmaker. His works are scattered throughout five European countries: his native Poland, Belgium, France, Italy and Spain. The extraordinary artistic ability of this Capuchin painter and his unique style impressed Pope Pius XI, King Leopold III of the Belgians, Cardinal Desiderato Giuseppe Mercier and Cardinal Augusto Hlond. With historical reconstruction based on archival sources and over 300 color illustrations, this publication offers an integral and profound vision of the life and artistic legacy of this eminent follower of St. Francis of Assisi.
