A Gift for Sister Mother Earth

Vatican. On October 4, 2019, Friday, the Feast of St. Francis, the brothers of the Capuchin General Curia Fraternity went to the Vatican Gardens to take part in the closing ceremony of the ‘Season of Creation’. The same event likewise, welcomes the upcoming Sinod for the Amazon.

Pope Francis, together with our indigenous sisters and brothers, planted a tree at the Vatican grounds.

Several soil from different places of the world were offered by people, organizations, religious congretations and members of the Franciscan family which served as supporting foundation for the newly planted tree.

The tree is a gift to sister mother earth who has constantly showered us with the abundance of her generosity. It is also a symbol of hope amidst the environmental challenges we face and a gift for the generations yet to come.

The solemn affair was made possible through the efforts of the Dicastery for Integral Human Development, the Order of Friars Minor and the Global Catholic Climate Movement.
