The Ratio formationis is on the way

The Ratio formationis is on the way

Rome. Following the presentation of the draft Ratio formationis to the General Chapter, the friar capitulars approved a motion in these terms:

“The General Council shall appoint a special commission (or direct the International Formation Council (IFC)), that within a year, on the basis of the important recommendations of the LXXXV General Chapter, will integrate, correct, and study more deeply the text of the Ratio formationis, in view of its approval, promulgation, and promotion in the Order.”

To wit, the new Minister and his Council, in their first meeting, keeping in mind certain criteria representative of the different geographical and cultural areas of the Order and the special skills of the friars, appointed the following commission:

  1. Kilian Ngitir, Custody of Cameroon, General Councilor, liaison to the IFC and the Commission for the RF, expert in human formation.
  2. Charles Alphonse, Province of Tamil Nadu South, General Secretary of Formation, Vice President of the Commission for the RF and expert in psychological and integral formation.
  3. Jaime Rey, Province of Spain, Vice General Secretary of Formation.
  4. Roberto Tadiello, Province of Venice, expert in Sacred Scripture.
  5. Bernardo Molina, Province of Chile, expert in Franciscan studies.
  6. Cristo Antonio, Province of Angola, expert in religious life.
  7. Albert D’Souza, Province of Maharashtra, Vice General Procurator, expert in Canon Law.
  8. Victor Herrero, Province of Spain, style editor for the text and expert in Sacred Scripture.
  9. Mauro Scoccia, Province of the Marches, secretary of the Commission.

The Commission, in its first meeting, decided to send the text to a group of experts in different fields in order to keep in mind, as much as possible, their observations for improving the text. The consulting experts, who had already collaborated in the project of the RF, are: Bishop Felice Accrocca, Niklaus Kuster, OFM Cap., Johannes Freyer, OFM, Beppe Roggia SDB, Giovanni Dalpiaz, OSBcam, Albert Schmucki, OFM, Ms. Mattea Belpiede, and Professor Methode Gahungu.

From June 3 to 8 we held a very intense meeting in order to review the whole text, to integrate the observations of the General chapter, to improve the critical apparatus, and to comment on the observations that had arrived from experts consulted.

We are confident that we will be able to hand in the final text to the General Minster and his Council on the feast of St. Clare, August 11, such that they can evaluate it and, if they it consider it opportune, approve the Ratio formationis at the September Council meeting. Always to the praise of Christ.
