St. Clare our model of contemplation & affective love

Today is the feast of St. Clare, our sister and model of faith; first seedling of the garden of St Francis. Noble, with princely marriage promises, goes in search of Francis, despised at first as a beggar and revolutionary. She escapes from the castle at night and at the Portiuncula Francis cuts her blond hair, which is still preserved, and dresses her with a rough habit. Since then she becomes the bride of Christ, a very intelligent friend of Brother Francis and foundress of the Poor Clares. When Fra. Francis had a crisis he went to Sr. Clare for spiritual help and guidance. Received also fraternal and affectionate encouragement from her. Sister Clare contemplated the loving face of Jesus for more than 35 years.

Today the Clarists Sisters and the others who follow the same path bear witness to this love and inner strength.
Sister Clare pray for us and stay with us bringing the strength of the heart.
