The
Franciscan Institute of Spirituality, part of the Pontifical
Athenaeum known as the “Antonianum”
provides academic, scientific and practical training for
future teachers of spirituality, formation personnel and
animators.
It is an Institute of general spirituality, with particular
attention given to Franciscan spirituality and related fields
of study. Established as part of the theology faculty, the
Institute provides teaching for the academic degrees of
Licence and Doctorate in Sacred Theology with a specialisation
in spirituality.
The required attendance is for a period of two years,
or four semesters, for a total of 56 hours, distributed
into 12 hours of theological formation, 38 hours of specialisation
– which in turn are divided into 22 hours of obligatory
courses and 16 hours of optional courses - 4 hours of seminars
and 2 hours of methodology.
The Institute is open to priests, religious men and women
and lay persons who meet the requirements for admission
to the second cycle of the Faculty of Theology.
